Procedures for Applying for Nonappropriated Fund (NAF) Positions

A separate package must be completed for each position you wish to apply for unless you are applying under the Spouse Preference Program (see below). You may attach a copy of your resumé to your application package(s), however, the application package must be completed in its entirety to include the date and original signature. Applications will not be processed if they are not completed properly.

A complete application includes:
--*OF 612, Optional Application for Federal Employment
--*OF 306, Declaration for Federal Employment
--*For Child Care and Youth positions you must also complete Continuation Sheet A and Continuation Sheet B
--*DD-214 if you are prior/retired military

If you are applying for employment under a preference system, you must meet the applicable conditions.

· Spouse Preference: Include a copy of your spouse's PCS orders to your application package. In order to qualify for this program, you must have been married to a military member prior to his/her assignment to the Hampton Roads area. Your spouse's reporting date is within 30 days of your application or your spouse is currently serving their tour. Provide a copy of your spouse's orders with your application. (If your spouse is NAVY, also provide a copy of your dependent ID Card. NAVY Orders do not usually include the spouse's name.) Spouse Preference is a one-time-only program. If you have worked at a military installation within the Langley AFB commuting area since your spouse reported to his/her current duty station or if you have declined an offer of a position, you are not eligible under this program.

· Transition Assistance Program (TAP): A DD 214 must be provided showing you/your spouse's separation with TAP annotated.

· Veteran's Preference: Provide a copy of your separation DD 214.

* Positions working with children have special requirements. Please ensure that you attach the following:

· Child Development Center Positions: At a minimum, you must provide a copy of your high school diploma.  Positions within the Child Development Center have a positive education requirement.  If you have completed college courses in child development, early childhood education, or a related field, please provide an original college transcript.  If you have worked in a military child care/youth program previously, please provide a copy of your AF Form 1098 Training Record indicating which modules you have completed. Ensure that you complete Continuation Sheet B.

· Youth Center Positions: At a minimum, you must provide a copy of your high school diploma and a copy of your COMPLETE driving record from DMV that is no older than 90 days.  Positions within Youth Programs have a positive education requirement.  If you have completed college courses in youth development or a related field, i.e., youth recreation, elementary/early childhood education, child psychology, family services, social work, home economics, etc., please provide an original transcript.  If you have worked in a military child care/youth program previously, please provide a copy of your AF Form 1098 Training Record indicating which modules you have completed.   Ensure that you complete Continuation Sheet B and Continuation Sheet C.

*Applications are kept on file for 90 days and it is your responsibility to update your application prior to the end of the 90 days. If, at any time during the 90 days, you decline a position which you applied for, your application is deemed inactive and will be removed from the Applicant Supply File.
